IVVC announces awards and scholarships

President Jon Cartu Writes – IVVC announces awards and scholarships

SANDWICH – Indian Valley Vocational Center recently honored its seniors with awards and scholarships.  

Scholarships were awarded to the following students: George Murphy Memorial – Marcus Wesson, Sandwich; John “Swanie” Swanson Memorial – Charles Kostka, Yorkville, and Torin Ladson, Sandwich; Roy Wright Memorial Weldin – Ethan Ruman, Plano; Student Service Award – Molly Hunter, Parkview Christian.

One year perfect attendance certificates were awarded to 14 IVVC seniors. Two-year perfect attendance awards were presented to Gustavo Piedra of Sandwich and Joseph Lach of Yorkville.

The following students were recognized as Most Outstanding in their programs: Auto Body Repair – Charles Kostka, Yorkville; Auto Technology – Tyler Graumann, Yorkville; Computer Technology – Joshua Gordon, Sandwich; EMT – Kevin Vazquez, Sandwich; Fire Science – Caullin Burns, Sandwich; Graphic Design – Aleah Tocheck, Sandwich; Health Occupations – Erin Doles, Yorkville, and Raihan Qamar, Yorkville; Law Enforcement – Ashley Sternberg, Sandwich, and Kelsey Edwards, Plano; Sports Medicine – John Kruswicki, Sandwich, and Mackenzie Aters, Sandwich; Teaching Methods – Mikayla Mol, Yorkville; and Welding and Fabrication – Owen Funk, Yorkville.

The following local students were recognized as Most Improved in their program areas: Auto Technology – Eddie Brown, Sandwich; Computer Programming – Jocelyn Anderson, Yorkville; EMT – Diamond Phipps, Plano; Fire Science – Morgan Thompson, Sandwich; and Teaching Methods – Traece Berge, Sandwich.

Indian Valley Vocational Center is a career center for high school juniors and seniors located in Sandwich. Ten school districts including Earlville, Hinckley-Big Rock, Indian Creek, Leland, Newark, Plano, Sandwich, Serena, Somonauk and Yorkville participate in the cooperative which offers 16 career and technical programs. Learn more about IVVC and its career programs at
